VOLUNTEER FOR TLC AT CLYDE'S FEED & ANIMAL CENTER!

Volunteers desperately needed for this off-site adoption location! Please consider volunteering before or after work or school.  There are only two cages at this location so cleaning will be minimal!

Clyde's Feed & Animal Center
351 Union St.
Hamburg, NY 14075

DAYS & TIMES NEEDED:

Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays

Anytime between 8am to 10:30am & 3pm to 5:30pm

With only 2 cages to clean, this location would just require 20 to 30 minutes (or less) of time to care for the kitties!

We really need to get back into this location or we will lose it!

Become a volunteer at Clyde's and help TLC get this adoption location back up and running!

To volunteer at Clyde's, contact Brenda: Brenraz@roadrunner.com
or call 716-646-5577!

TEN LIVES RESCUES 3 CATS STUFFED IN CRATE & LEFT IN HEAT

On Sunday, July 12 - a day when the TLC shelter is closed to the public - 3 fully grown cats were discovered crammed into one carrier.  They had been left in the heat without food or water. The temperature that day was 90 degrees!
Chase

Whoever was responsible for this cruel act left them sitting next to the TLC dumpster like trash.  Not to mention, in extreme heat with NO WATER which would've been a DEATH SENTENCE if they hadn't been found in time.

Luke (behind) & Jo Jo
Marie noticed the carrier sitting out in the heat and found the 3 cats inside.  They were quickly brought into the shelter & out of the awful heat.  These poor cats had all begun to pant from the extreme heat and one poor baby was so terrified she had peed herself.

They are being processed by our vet staff now. This means being tested, vaccinated, treated for fleas, worms, ear mites and a full physical which will determine their ages. We named them after "The Bachelorette" stars.

Read local news coverage HERE & HERE.

Ten Lives never received a phone call asking us to help with these cats.  We do ask for a surrender donation but we will work with people when they can't donate.  There are MANY ways to help that are just as needed and appreciated such as volunteer work, selling raffle tickets for us, caring for our kitties at our adoption locations, donating items needed on a day to day basis, cleaning at the shelter - SO MANY ways!

DUMPING cats at our shelter is a cruel, cowardly and CRIMINAL thing to do.

If ANYONE has any information about who may have committed this incredibly cruel act, please call our shelter hotline at 716-646-5577.

TLC RESCUES MAMA CAT SHOT IN NECK!

Sweet Darby is just one example of the many cases of cruelty & abuse that come through the doors of Ten Lives Club.

Darby, a female, came into our program with her baby kittens and went to one of our loyal and experienced foster homes. The foster home noticed a bump on her neck.

When Darby was spayed and under sedation, the bump was checked. A .22 bullet was taken out of Darby's neck!  Pictured below left is the .22 bullet removed from Darby's neck during surgery.

Pictured below right is the open wound.  Darby is on pain medication not only for her spay but also the wound which our vet left open to heal.  Once she is finished with her antibiotics to prevent infection, Darby will be available for adoption in about a week.

Poor Darby has been through so much yet even so, she is a sweet little thing and so trusting.

PLEASE HELP US FIND SWEET DARBY THE LOVING FOREVER HOME SHE DESERVES!

NEW TEN LIVES CLUB ADOPTION LOCATION AT GALLERIA MALL!

The new Ten Lives Club Walden Galleria adoption location was previously occupied by the SPCA.  It is located just inside the main entrance next to Lord & Taylors on the ground level in the Walden Galleria Mall in Cheektowaga, New York.

Ten Lives recently celebrated our Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Galleria on Saturday, October 24.  Hundreds of visitors, along with dozens of TLC volunteers came out for our event!

The very same day, we received a very generous donation from Joe Kozoil of CatLadder.com.  Joe brought us 3 beautiful handmade cat ladders for our kitties in the showcase windows Saturday morning and they LOVE them!

CatLadder.com makes unique cat furniture pieces made to order.  Each cat ladder is individually hand crafted!  You pick the color of the stain, carpeting for the steps and how many steps/height of the cat ladder you would like for your cat(s).  Be sure to check them out at catladder.com and order one for your kitty!  THANK YOU JOE & CATLADDER.COM!

TLC volunteers baked DOZENS of kitty cupcakes that were handed out to all of the visitors who stopped in to visit the kitties on Saturday.

THANK YOU to all of the dedicated TLC volunteers who took the time to bake & decorate these yummy cupcakes!

We held a Theme Basket raffle and the "Whisker Wheel" was on hand for visitors to take a spin to win prizes!

Brenda Bushley, long time dedicated TLC Volunteer, had her handmade jewelry for sale with 100% of the proceeds to benefit Ten Lives Club - THANK YOU BRENDA!

TLC at Galleria had ELEVEN adoptions in just ONE DAY during the Grand Opening Day!

Since TLC took over the SPCA store location on October 6, we've had 62 adoptions in just 28 DAYS at this location.  That is phenomenal!

TLC is expecting well over 200 cats & kittens to find their forever homes by January 1, 2016 from the new Galleria location alone!

CONGRATULATIONS to Kristen Peck, Ten Lives Club Galleria Store Manager, for doing such an AWESOME job!  YOU & YOUR VOLUNTEERS ROCK!
Be sure to stop by and visit Ten Lives Club at the Galleria Mall to find your next furry family member.

TLC at Galleria is also looking for volunteers.  With the upcoming Holidays, they are extending their hours through the week until 8pm.  This TLC location will also be open on Sundays from 11am to 6pm.

Pictured right is Madison, our first volunteer to earn her t-shirt, with Little Man, our FIV+ cat that was recently adopted from the Galleria location.  Congratulations Madison!

Volunteers  who complete 15 hours of service will receive a FREE Ten Lives Club t-shirt!   Volunteers who are age 16+ & in need of community service hours will receive a FREE TLC t-shirt after completing 20 hours of service!

Please consider VOLUNTEERING for a 12pm to 4pm shift or a 4pm to 8pm shift.

TEN LIVES CLUB FEATURED ON WKBW AM BUFFALO!

http://www.wkbw.com/am-buffalo/ten-lives-club

Channel 7 WKBW is celebrating November as Rescue a Shelter Animal month.  Linda Pellegrino from WKBW AM Buffalo invited Ten Lives Club to appear on her show Monday, November 2.  We were happy to have the opportunity!

Marie Edwards, President & Founder of Ten Lives Club, and Valerie Underwood, Volunteer Store Coordinator, were interviewed along with 2 cats - "Super" Manny & Calypso.  Valerie was going to hold Calypso but he was being camera shy!  "Super" Manny hammed it up & was a cool cucumber during the entire interview.

This was a wonderful opportunity for Ten Lives Club to spread the word about our organization!  Linda invited us to come back again in December to promote our "Home for the Holidays" adoption campaign on her AM Buffalo show.  We are looking forward to another opportunity to help our kitties forever homes!

MAMA CAT & 5 KITTENS FOUND IN DUCT TAPED BOX RESCUED BY TLC!

Mama cat CHELLE & her litter of 5 babies!

On Monday, July 20, Ten Lives Club volunteer Ken Lyon was helping TLC prepare for their upcoming garage sale.  He discovered a cardboard box sitting outside the Ten Lives Club donation bin that was sealed with duct tape. When he heard meowing noises coming from inside the box, he immediately took it inside the shelter.

Ken started removing the duct tape and a cat's head popped up through the opening! Inside was a mama cat and her litter of 5 newborn kittens who had been sealed up tight and abandoned in the hot July heat.  Ken and other Ten Lives Club volunteers and staff were appalled!  Who could do such a thing?  Why didn't they surrender them to the shelter which was only a few yards away?  Instead, they shoved this poor mama cat and her babies into a cardboard box, duct taped it shut so there was no way to escape and left it by boxes of donated items like a piece of trash!  In the middle of JULY!

Dr. Fisk examined them and determined that the kittens were between 7 and 10 days old.  The mama cat and all of her babies were okay.  Thankfully, it appeared that they had been inside the box for about 15 minutes or less.  Had it been much longer on a hot 80 degree July day, the outcome would not have been so good.

WIVB Channel 4 and WGRZ Channel 2 did a wonderful job covering this heartbreaking story.  Both broadcast stations sent reporters to interview Marie Edwards - TLC President & Founder, Ken Lyon and Dr. Fisk the very same day.

Ten Lives is so grateful for the kind donations and compassionate response for these sweet kitties thanks to WIVB and WGRZ! People from not only Western New York, but all over the United States have shown their support!  THANK YOU!

The mama cat - now named "Chelle" - and her 5 babies are being fostered by a seasoned Ten Lives Club volunteer.  Chelle will be available for adoption in a few weeks once her babies are weaned and she has been spayed.  Her babies will be available for adoption around the end of September.

Call 716-646-5577 for more information
about adopting Chelle or her babies!

It will cost approximately $1,000 for Ten Lives Club to treat & prepare these kitties for adoption.

HAPPY TAILS~ SWEETIE PIE & HONEY BUNCH

 SWEETIE PIE & HONEY BUNCH

Submitted By:

Marianne McPherson
TLC Volunteer Store Coordinator
PetSmart - Cheektowaga & Pet Supplies "Plus" Sheridan Dr.
TLC Adoption Training Coordinator

Sometimes it is very tough on TLC staff and volunteers to see two sweet cats like Sweetie Pie and Honey Bunch being surrendered by their owners.   These two beautiful seven-year-old, declawed siblings shared the first seven years of their lives with one family. Now, they were unwanted and homeless.

HONEY BUNCH

Any Shelter can be a scary place for animals where there are no familiar faces.  Being put in a cage for the first time is even more frightening!

SWEETIE PIE
Finding a home for one older cat is difficult enough much less two,  but we made it our goal to try everything we could to keep them together.

After being processed, they were sent to the TLC adoption location at Pet Supplies "Plus" - 3340 Sheridan Dr.

There, they cuddled together in the back of the cage not knowing what was happening to them.

PHYLISS & SWEETIE PIE
It was their good fortune that Phyllis Zagarrigo happened by chance to stop there that day.  Phyllis lives next door to her sister Sharon in Hamburg, NY.  Together they have promised they will give Sweetie Pie and Honey Bunch a Loving Forever Home.

PHYLISS'S SISTER SHARON & SWEETIE PIE
Volunteer Jill said when Phyllis and Sharon held them for the first time, Sweetie Pie and Honey Bunch settled right into their arms!  As if they knew everything was now going to be okay...

This is why we all do what we do!

Thanks for all that you do for the kitties Marianne!
