Ten Lives Club was founded in January 2001 by Marie Edwards who had a dream to save as many cats as possible. Since 2001 Ten Lives Club has touched the lives of over 20,000 cats and kittens that have come into our care. We celebrated our 14th Birthday on Saturday, January 31, 2015 with a big Ten Lives Club Birthday Bash!
In 2013, Ten Lives Club rescued 1,661 unwanted, abused or stray cats. Ten Lives found 1,466 cats and kittens forever homes.
In 2014, Ten Lives Club rescued 1,330 unwanted, abused or stray cats and kittens. We found 1,321 cats and kittens forever homes. During this same year, we also took in 576 cats from the Buffalo City Animal Shelter to reduce overcrowding in their facility.
Ten Lives Club actively promotes and participates in reducing the over population of unwanted cats and kittens. For fourteen years, Ten Lives Club has participated in the annual "World Spay Day" on the last Tuesday in February which promotes the spaying and neutering of pets. In January 2014, TLC spayed & neutered 53 cats and kittens. Throughout 2014, Ten Lives Club spayed or neutered a total of 829 cats and kittens in our care.
In addition, Ten Lives Club donates food and supplies to dedicated community volunteers who care for and support local feral/community cat colonies. We advocate and support the TNVR (Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate Release) laws in our local communities and work with Feral Focus of Western New York to lobby for changes in various city ordinances that continue to trap and kill community cats instead of embracing the much more humane and very effective approach of TVNR.
Ten Lives Club is one of the few rescue organizations in Western New York who take in cats that test positive for FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). At any given time, we will have over 40 FIV+ kitties in our program. We also work with local SPCA facilities to take in their FIV+ cats with the mutual goal of finding them ALL forever homes.
Recently, Ten Lives Club fulfilled a long awaited dream of moving into a larger facility. The new shelter has made it possible for Ten Lives Club to expand their reach and provide care for even more cats and kittens. The new shelter, located at 3741 Lake Shore Road in Blasdell, New York, provides rescue services, a vet clinic and a much larger adoption center all under one roof.
We rely heavily on donations from our generous supporters to help us feed, medicate and house over 300+ cats and kittens (including those in foster care) in our program. We also need additional funding for special care and services such as our Dental Program and Senior Cats for Senior Citizens Program.
